Every winter, Seattle's bars start competing for the most festive room in town. Twinkle lights go up, cocktail menus get a seasonal makeover and a handful of spots transform completely for a few short weeks. Holiday pop-up bars have become one of the city's favorite seasonal traditions, and for good reason: they turn an ordinary night out into an event.
If you're planning holiday drinks with friends, a festive date night or an office outing this year, here's what to look for and where to start.
What Makes a Great Holiday Pop-Up Bar
The best holiday pop-ups do more than hang a few ornaments. Look for:
- A full transformation. The room should feel like a different place than it does the rest of the year.
- A seasonal cocktail menu. Drinks made for the moment, not just a peppermint garnish on the usual list.
- Photo moments. Somewhere you'll actually want to take a picture with your friends.
- Something to come back for. Weekly programming or hidden surprises that make a second visit worth it.
- An easy way in. Clear reservation options, plus room for walk-ins.
The Toy Room at Fog Room: A Vintage Toy Shop 16 Floors Up
This year, Fog Room at The Charter Hotel Seattle is debuting its first holiday pop-up: The Toy Room. From November 15, 2026 through January 3, 2027, the rooftop lounge becomes a nostalgic vintage toy shop high above downtown Seattle.
Train sets circle the bar. Teddy bears drift overhead in hot air balloons. Shelves are stacked with vintage toys and games, giant toy blocks are piled high and a rocking horse waits by the window. Add one of the best views in the city, and it's a holiday bar that feels like stepping into a storybook.
Holiday Cocktails and Bites
The limited-edition holiday menu was created for this room, with collaborations from Tito's, Bacardi and Schilling Cider. Look for cocktails like Baby It's Cold Outside, Cousin Eddie, Toymaker's Loft, What's Crackin' and Yule Be Sorrel, plus festive bites such as Holiday Short Rib Poutine and Cranberry Brie Baked Naan.
Find Jolly Jimothy
Somewhere in The Toy Room, a mischievous raccoon named Jolly Jimothy is hiding. Spot him and ask your bartender about the secret menu.
Something New Every Week
Weekly programming keeps the season fresh. Tinsel Tuesdays bring a tinsel stylist to Fog Room on Tuesday evenings, and families can book Story Time with Santa on Sunday mornings.
